Lesson Plan in Grade 11 - English

Date: September 12, 2019

Time: 6:30 am to 8:00 am

Class: Grade XI – IPS 2

I. Learning Objectives

At the end of the class discussion and group dynamics, the learners are expected to:

a. complete type 2 and type 3 conditional statements through a fill-in the blanks and alternative response activity,

b. show teamwork and cooperation in performing a group role-play; and

c. write a dialogue based on their assigned future plans using conditionals.

III. Learning Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Greetings

2. Classroom Management

· The teacher will ask the students to pick up pieces of litters, arrange their chairs and settle down.

3. Checking of Attendance

· The teacher will mark students who are not present or late in class.

4. Review

· The students shall answer the following guide questions:

  • What is the meaning of conditional?

  • Enumerate the two types of conditional we discussed last meeting. What are the forms for each type?

5. Posting the Learning Objectives

· The teacher will post/write today’s agenda on the board:

  • DISCUSSION: Second and Third Conditional

  • PRACTICE: Aye/Nay and Fill-in the Blanks

  • ACTIVITY: Role-Playing Activity (Group work)


B. Developmental Activities

Motivation

1. The teacher will write four sentences on the board and ask the students to identify the verb tenses used in each clause:

· If I am tired, I take a break.

· If I feel sleepy, I’ll drink coffee.

· If I had more time, I would exercise more.

· If I had eaten breakfast this morning, I wouldn’t be hungry right now.

2. The teacher will process students’ answers and relate it to the topic.

Presentation

1. The teacher shall introduce the lesson through a PowerPoint Slide Presentation.

2. The students, guided by the teacher, will find out the form of Type 2 and Type 3 conditionals together.

3. The teacher will define the uses of the 4 types of conditional.


Application (Practice Exercise)

1. The students will answer the following test items:

Generalization

1. The teacher shall enumerate the forms of type 0, 1, 2 and 3 Conditionals through a tabular form.

2. The students will ask some questions/clarifications.


IV. Evaluation

1. Group Activity: The students will work in the same groups of four. They will write a dialogue and perform a role-play about their future plans based on their assigned topics:

  • GROUP 1: Plans about college

  • GROUP 2: Plans about vacation

  • GROUP 3: Plans about career

  • GROUP 4: Plans about hobbies

2. The students shall come up with at least ten (10) conditional sentences based on their assigned topics. They will only be given 3-5 minutes to perform.

3. The teacher shall provide his feedback after all groups have performed.

4. Each group will be scored based from the rubric found below: (TOTAL: 30 Points)
